Some of the UAD-locked plugins are actually made by Softube, Brainworx (Plugin alliance), etc. It is cool to be able to offload the CPU load of some of the UAD plug-ins to the computer, to make room for some of the CPU-heavy hardware-only plug-ins. A custom or all-in subscription option would have been great. I think this is very cool for people who don't own UA stuff already, though as a UAD user it's a little underwhelming not to see more plug-ins included.
